Re: jambox static (and airplay)

I received a call from Jawbone last night (about returning my replacement unit - i am holding on to it for a few more days until i am satisfied my problem is gone) and they suggested the following when this happens:

When you get the static on the Jambox but you can still pair with the Iphone, try listening to a voice-mail on your Iphone and see if sound is coming through.  If you can hear sound when listening to the Voice-Mail on your Iphone (when paired), it means there is probably a problem with the AUX jack on your Jambox.  The priority for sound output on the Jambox is apparently Phone (as in Phone CALL), then Aux, then Bluetooth Sound.  So if you can hear the voicemail OK, your unit probably has a screwy auxiliary plug.

Just reporting what i have been told by tech support last night - i am no expert and my unit is now working fine so i have not tested this.

My experience as well:

1. Turn on Jambox out of the box and connect iPhone 4 via BT - works great

2. Disconnect, turn off Jambox, charge until full

3. Turn back on.. only static

Note 1: connects via BT fine to iPhone

Note 2: voice calls/voicemail works just fine

Note 3: AUX works just fine... only music via BT is messed up

Based on another posters reply about possible AUX port issues, I placed the included audio cable part way into the AUX port and noticed some flashes of audio. After wiggling it around for a little bit, I can get the music to play via BT. For my unit, I have to push the plug in about 2/3 of the way and then try to find the right angle to wiggle the plug (trial and error for a few minutes.) Unplugging the cable will result in all static again.

Unfortunately, I know of at least two others on campus that purchased the Jamboxand have suffered the exact same problem. It just appears to be poor build quality.

Doesn't seem like software will fix this so hopefully, I can get a replacement.

Re: jambox static (and airplay)

I'm very sorry to hear that you've been dealing with these difficulties.  This is not the normal JAMBOX experience.  It would be most efficient for you to contact us directly and ask to work with a MyTALK specialist.  Our MyTALK team can be reached here.  While we can generally resolve these sorts of issues immediately we will be happy to look into processing an exchange for you if necessary.

Re: jambox static (and airplay)

There are a lot of people having this issue. Why not post an answer here if it is easily solved? Why force a call?

I apologize for the confusion -- we're not trying to "force" a call.  We're simply trying to help you in the most efficient manner possible. It may seem like a lot of people here are having the same issue, but every customer's experience and setup is unique.  We need to troubleshoot each individual experience to make sure we provide the proper troubleshooting steps.  This may be a very simple solution or it may be a more complex situation.  What we're trying to do is help you in a direct, proactive way.  You're of course welcome to offer any solutions you find with our support team here.

In case it helps immediately, the JAMBOX does not support WiFi and will therefore not work with airplay.

You can call 1-800-JAWBONE or e-mail us here.  We're standing by, ready to help.

Well between this and the "jambox not responding" thread ... lack of wireless sound is becoming a "normal JAMBOX experience" quite quickly isn't it... juss sayin' :smileywink:

Re: jambox static (and airplay)

I have experience that same issues that others have described here. I am able to connect via BlueTooth once and everything seems normal. Then the next time I connect it is just static.

Any word on what the issue is or what can be done to fix this.

Same  issue!!!!  AUX jack needs to corrected at assembly! Hate it when you spend your good hard earned money on things that don't work!!!!!!!  Oh, and the charge cable small end for jambox was delivered bent! Have to wiggle it to get it to work just like the AUX jack to hear music!!!!! Do something!!!!
