At this point in development, which Jawbone to buy? The Icon or the Era?

Howdy folks,

I just lost my Jawbone that I've had for a couple of years and need to buy a new unit. I bought the Motorola H17 and it's pretty neat except that it shuts off and needs to be inserted in the charger to restart. Not a neat thing.

Which of the Jawbones do you figure at this point in development is the way to go, the Era or the Icon?. This is a work tool when I'm driving primarily.

I just came from the Jawbone Icon to the Era.  BUY the Era.  It outperforms the Icon in every aspect.  The sound quality is outstanding!

     I've been reading everything that I can find on the ERA and the ICON and they both sound great, but the ERA does sound like a new generation for sure and the larger speaker does not hurt, not to mention "by name caller ID" and a longer battery time.

     Today I was getting some help moving a couch and chair into my home and there laying on the ground, brought to that spot by one of my dogs, was the lost Jawbone. Out in the heavy rain, buried in sand and Dog Mouthed to get it to where I found it. I took it in, put it on a heater for 3 hrs. and then plugged it into the charger......nothing, no red light.....then a brief faint glimmer, then a bright red light and it was charging. To make a long story short, the unit works just fine. Don't know how long the charge will last but it calls and receives just fine. Jawbone Rules!!

     I've got a bit of time to figure out which Jawbone I'll be buying as the old guy is doing just fine, paired up quickly and all is good.

That's great news!  You may want put that Icon in a small container and cover it with rice overnight to pull all the moisture out of it.  It will be fine.  I totally submerged my Icon in a sink full of water, let it dry overnight, then charged it is still working perfectly.  My wife has it now.

The Era really does live up to the hype.  It really is better than the Icon...and I loved the Icon.

I'm sure that I'm going to be blown away by the ERA when I get one. My Jawbone is further back than the Icon, It's the thinker...at least that's what I think it is. It works just fine, except for the odd bit of getting confused and needing to be rebooted but by and large it works just fine for what I need it to do. Am looking forward to the ERA and will probably spring for one in the summer.
