I've just bought an ERA and I'm having problems getting it to work with my Blackberry Bold 9000, running software v184.108.40.2066 (platform 220.127.116.11). I've updated the ERA on MyTalk and it now claims to be up to date. I can pair the devices no problem, but the phone cannot connect to the headset. It attempts to do so, appears to connect and then immediately disconnects, with 'connection to jawbone era failed' coming up on the phone. The headset just says 'waiting for phone' when I press the talk button. I've tried this with A2DP on and off, with Bluetooth encryption enabled and disabled on the phone, with multipoint enabled and disabled on the headset, with only one device paired with each (i.e. only one headset paired to the phone and only one phone paired to the headset), factory resetting both devices, deleting all pairings, resetting and trying again and pretty much everything else I can think of. I always get the same result.
I have an old Motorola H700 headset which has worked fine for years on this phone, but it's getting a bit tired. That still works today. The ERA pairs fine and works with my wife's iPhone, but that's no use to me!
Jawbone 'support' (and I use the term advisedly) have told me there's no fault and to reset the headset. Obviously, that's not helped. Has anyone had similar problems or (even better!) worked out a solution to this??
I'm sorry you're having such a frustrating experience trying to connect your Era to your Blackberry. Typically, when there's a connection issue with a Blackberry, something in the phones software has gone wrong. Let's try this, go into your Bluetooth settings on the phone, highlight the Era, and then click the options button and choose to remove the Era. Once it's gone take the battery out of the back of your phone for a few seconds and then put it back and power the phone back up. Put your Era into pairing mode by turning it on and shaking it 4 times (it will blink red & white back and forth). Finally, pair the Era back up with your phone and see if it will connect up this time.
Hopefully that will do the trick but let us know if it still won't connect.
Thanks for the reply Jamie. Unfortunately, I've tried all of this, along with about everything else I can think of. Jawbone support in the UK wasn't particularly helpful, making me phone in to tell me about the '7 push on the talk button reset', because to email it would be against company policy. I gave up and returned the Era for a refund.
Shame, as it looks like a really nice device.
I also have a Blackberry Bold and a Jawbone Era and I am also having the same pairing issues - it does not connect...I will try the options above and see if it helps....Very frustrating to say the least..sometimes I am successful at manually connecting it...(via the manage connections icon on the phone) but lately that does not work.....
