Bionic and Icon

[ Edited ]

Hi new member here.  Had an older Jawbone with my OG Droid and liked it.  I only "liked" it because I dropped it out of my truck and as a result it was very difficult to use.  The older charging system wasnt ideal either.  Anyway, just bought a Moto Bionic and decided to spend more money on an Icon.  For the first day, maybe two I could use voice dialing, now nada.  If I press the button I get the battery state, if I hold for 2 seconds I get a beep and nothing.  Is this an on going Android issue?  I read some posts dating back to 2009 and 2010 as well as some regarding the Moto Atrix and it looks like it WAS definately an issue.  If it still is, so be it I will live with it.  If its not do I have an Iconic lemon.  Thanks in advance.

Re: Bionic and Icon

I'm glad you've posted, Jason. The answer to your question reaches our numerous Android users, and will help them if they're going through the same thing.

At the onset of this I can tell this issue is probably not the Jawbone's doing. Let me explain. Out of the box your Jawbone ICON shipped with the Voice Dial dialapp installed. The only way you could change this is by logging into http://mytalk.jawbone.com and selecting a different Dialapp, perhaps MyFavorite or HandsFreeAssistant. If you have done this and would rather use Voice Dial, remember that our Jawbone ICON can only sustain one Dialapp at a time, and uploading one overwrites another. Just go into Mytalk and reload the VoiceDial default on the right side of the page under "dialapps".

If this is not the case, then perhaps switching from the Google voice recognition software that your phone shipped with to a different app like Vlingo might work. You must first go to the Android Marketplace and select to download and install Vlingo (or the voice recognition app of your choice) and then configure your phone to use Vlingo as the default voice recognition app. From the Droid Bionic User Manual:

Personalize your voice settings:
• Voice recognition: Touch Menu > Settings
> Voice input & output > Voice recognizer settings.
From here, you can set options like language and
censorship.
• Voice commands: Touch > Voice Commands
> Menu > Settings. From here, you can refine
recognition of your voice (Adaptation) and set options
like prompts and shortcuts.

I hope these recommendations get you started on your road to being truly hands-free!

Your friend in bluetooth,
Jawbone Geoffrey

Re: Bionic and Icon

Hello,

I've had the same problem with my Bionic. My Icon worked for voice dialing for about 30 minutes then stopped.  Nothing was updated because I was not registered or went to the mytalk site.  One second it was working then it stopped.  I was driving the car at the time.   I installed Jawbone Companion to the Bionic and then connected the icon to my computer and updated the software and the settings say default voice dialer installed but it still does not work. I guess  Jawbone Companion is not supported on the Bionic?  Will that change.  Would like to have voice dial back as this is one of the reasons I bought the device.

Re: Bionic and Icon

This does not solve the problem.  I have 4 icons and 2 of them will no longer voice dial and the other 2 will still work.  I don't know what the problem is.  All 4 of them give horrible feedback to me callers also.
