I am using a Jawbone Icon and Iphone 3gs. I have had no problems but just updated my Jawbone Icon on my Mac. Now whenever I hold in the button on the Icon for voice dial, I get a loud chirp (it hurts my ears) and then the voice dial on the iphone starts. I did not have this problem before I updated the Jawbone, so I think the issue is with the Icon and not the phone. I've reset both the phone and Icon, and also unpaired and re-paired, but no success.
Anyone have any ideas?
I contacted support, very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, all the resets and reloading of dialapps didn't fix the issue.
I also paired the ICON to a different type of phone (non iPhone) and the chirp was still there.
I was able to let the rep hear it, and he has never heard it that sound.
I guess we're just lucky. What's weird is, my wife's does the same thing.
I just got my replacement headset from Amazon, same loud chirp.
I've found that if I do it once, it will chirp... then if I do it subsequentlly it will not.
It's almost like the volume goes all the way up, then drops back down.
Is there anyway to adjust the volume for the VoiceApp voice, or is it not tweakable?
Not to beat the dead horse, but I finally figured out what is causing this issue.
The Jawbone is forgetting the volume settings it goes into standby.
The only way to get the "beep" volume back to normal when holding down the Jawbone talk buttons is to launch the iPod application and lower the Jawbone's volume via the talk button. After you have it set, stop the iPod and press the talk button to voice dial (before locking it). The volume of the initial beep is normal. When you let the ICON go into standby it will forget the volume setting.
I wish there was a way to lock a max volume setting on the headset itself.
I have been emailing one of the support reps and she indicated that one of the other techs has heard of the issue and that it hasn't been addressed in any software updates.
I've been trying to find a work around, so far the only one is to not use the dialapp feature.
