i use an iphone 3gs with the jawbone icon and it works perfectly except for my gps apps. it does not report the turn by turn properly. for example when i get to a certain cross street, the phone should say "turn left at jawbone avenue". but what i hear is "venue". most of the direction is cut off and i think its because the icon is going into standby mode and needs time to recover/sync. what can i do so that it will stay on completely and i can hear all of the directions.
i dont want to have music or something else playing in the background as a workaround since that becomes too distracting and a potential danger to all drivers/pedestrians
is there a solution to this?

I have the same issues with apps on my HTC Droid Incredible 2. It seems that the first time I use it after turning it on, it works ok, but with subsequent responses from the applications (Vlingo, Speaktoit Assistant, Eva Intern), the first few seconds are cut off. I believe whatever is causing that is also causing the apps' to not hear their "wake up" command via the Icon's mic.

apparently this issue has already been documented since 2010.

i guess it's pretty clear at this point they won't be fixing it. wish i would've known before buying it.

Ugh. Me too.
I did a simple test last night with a "type and speak" tool -- I simply wrote "One. Two. Three." etc up to 7 and told it to speak. If my Icon was just turned on & connected, I would hear the entire test, with each word just about a second apart. If I left it for a couple minutes and tried again, the Icon didn't kick on until it got to 4 or 5.
Unfortunately, there's really no way to test something like this before you buy...
