Jambox not flashing red light when turning it on

After working once the jambox is working no more - when sliding the ON switch to the top position we never see it flash red - just keeps flashing white. Despite saying "ready for pairing" when pressing the TALK button it is undetectable from my or my wife's cell phones (I was able to pair it once with my HTC Desire phone but have since been unable to ) or our iPAD. Would appreciate any pointers on what we might be doing wrong/ how to get the bluetooth connectivity working again.
