Re: Jambox startup and shutdownn volume

Please fix and change the loud startup/shutdown/pairing annoucement to be volume adjustable. This loud noise and announcement are not only an annoyance when one uses the jambox late at night in a quiet environment. It is also cause of embarrassment at work for causing loud noise distraction to my colleagues.  I can not endorse this product nor would I want to promote it among my circle of friends when this problem still remains. My jambox certainly goes back to the vendor.

Re: Jambox startup and shutdownn volume

Hi All,

Thanks for your posts!

When you get the latest Jambox update on MyTALK, you’ll get a number of new audio controls, plus some refinements to the original user interface.  Below are some of the lesser known Jambox button controls, including some new enhancements. Sign in to MyTALK here: http://mytalk.jawbone.com.

More Subtle Battery Announcements:  Jambox will no longer announce low battery levels when the speaker is not in use (i.e. it’s not on a call or streaming music).  We have also reduced the number of times the battery announcement plays. When the battery is getting low and you're on a call or streaming music, you'll hear "Battery is under a quarter full". When the battery is about to run out, and you're on a call or streaming music, you'll hear "recharge battery now".

Quiet Power On: Want to turn on your Jambox without hearing the voice announcement or startup tone?  When your Jambox is switched off, hold down the “-“ button and switch on your Jambox.

Quiet Power Off:  Similarly, you can turn off your Jambox without hearing any tones or announcement.  Hold down the “-“ button and switch off your Jambox to silently power off.

Mute & Resume the Speaker & Mic:  With the latest update, press and hold the “-“ button to mute both the speaker and the microphone when you’re on a call.  Or when you’re streaming music, press and hold “-“ for instant speaker mute.  Additionally you can press and hold “+” button and the volume will resume.

Muting the Mic Only: Press both the “+” and “-“ together when you’re on a call to put the just microphone on mute (speaker volume will be remain). Unmute with the same action.

New Demo Tone: You can hold down all 3 buttons (“+”, “-“, and circular TALK button)  at the same time when you’re not on a call or playing music.  You’ll  hear a demo of the Jambox’s audio, which we’ve recently updated to be even better.  Press the TALK button if you want to stop midway.

Please feel free to send me a Private Message if you are not able to get this update from the MyTalk site!

Best,

Re: Jambox startup and shutdownn volume

Hi Emma,

Thanks for the update!  It's definitely a step in the right direction and it is appreciated.

I've updated my Jambox and here are my honest thoughts on the issue:

1)  I appreciate the new feature, but would be much nicer if the sound settings could persist -- such as a setting or something in MyTalk, since I _never_ want to hear the startup/shutdown sounds.  (Or any other sounds quite frankly.)

2) Volume beeps.   Are people at Jawbone hard of hearing?  :smileyhappy:  The volume adjustment beeps are still too loud.   I don't need a beep to confirm a physical button push.  The scenario is a quiet room and while the beeps aren't terrible, I'm just puzzled why I can't just have the Jambox make no sounds whatsoever except what is being streamed to it.

I haven't gotten the low battery warning yet, but not sure if it will sound with voice announcements off in MyTalk.  Hoping not -- the ideal is for a quiet death when the battery is dead.   I use it while travelling and it's often easiest to just plop the thing on the nightstand and just let it stream until whenever.  I get the battery will die at some point -- I just don't want to get woken up.

Don't get me wrong -- there are plenty of times I want a loud device.  I get that Jambox is geared toward that.   But just as often, I want subtle and quiet.

Re: Jambox startup and shutdownn volume

OK -- did a test last night where I played music (streaming) from my PC while I slept.   At some point, Bluetooth connectivity was momentarily lost, causing very loud "beep BEEP" [pause] "beep BEEP" when the connecting dropped and then was re-established.  Good lord it was jarring.  Fortunately I'm travelling so the wife didn't have to experience this!

So again, I understand the general point of notifications but they should either be volume controllable so I can make them ridiculously soft or turn them off altogether!

Re: Jambox startup and shutdownn volume

i second the wish.

this was the first issue i noticed when i turned on the jambox. all tones were much too loud. the first thing i did was to create a mytalk account and turn off all mytalk voices. unfortunately the startup and shutdown noise still remained as did the volume-tones and pairing tones.

there must be a way to turn them all off or at least to be able to lower volume on all of them!

Re: Jambox startup and shutdownn volume

Like i said before...they should add some functions in the Advanced Settings menu so you can adjust volumes from here....

Re: Jambox startup and shutdown volume

there absolutely MUST be an option created within the myTALK advanced settings to disable all unneeded sounds, which include the startup/shutdown and button press sounds.  this would be a simple tweak on jawbone's end, and even if 99% of the people don't care about it, there are plenty of us who don't want the speaker making noise unless we want it to.  i can't fathom why this isn't an option yet, and am concerned at the lack of response from jawbone about this.

Re: Jambox startup and shutdown volume

[ Edited ]

Just bought the jamobx. Great product but like others would like the ability to disable all notification sounds through mytalk. While it's nice that we can supress the on off sounds with the two button combination and eliminate the voice notifications, but can we have one setting through mytalk to disable all sounds.  Or at least suppress the waiting for connection sound please!!  I should mention I also like using the Jambox to put my 3mos old baby asleep and once in awhile I forget to do the two button off and end up waking the poor fella up from the shutdown sound!!

Re: Jambox startup and shutdown volume

Hi There,

I am using the jambox for a while now. Great product !

But all the notification sounds are a pain. I am using it in the office. I mean - every beep is so loud !! Adjusting the volume - Switching it on/off which seams to be have a workaround now. But still. Pairing sounds, Volume sounds, Caller Sounds.

If I leave the office place I have to turn it off since the pairing sound disturbs my colleagues and even turning it off makes a sound. If a re -pair the device it makes a sound.

It is nice that you have released a firmware which implements a "turn off" workaround now. But why do we not get the possibility to silence the jambox ?

I am using it wiht my I phone - so the IPhone shows me the battery status, the connectivity. I do not need any notification.

I think there are many owners out there waiting for the features.

Could you please state if you are working on this fuctionality ? when will it be available ?

Thanks a lot
