Jawbone is making horrible noise

Every time I turn the thing on it screams with noise. It won't play music even when plugged in by the 3.5mm cable and it doesn't even seem to hold a charge. This thing was a gift but right now its just a paperweight. Please can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong.

I am ha ing the exact same problem
This was a gift, so I don't have a receipt. It will not hold a charge and the Bluetooth will not sync with my Motorola Atrix 2 even with the USB charger plugged in. What should I do? It seems like the battery isn't connected, or it's a dud.
