Just purchased 2 JamBOXes yesterday for my wife and I.
While it was charging I went in and played around with MyTALK. Being the computer/network/iPhone/iPod/Apple TV, etc nerd that I am, I want to check all the options and features. Of course I turned on the Clarity and Liveaudio options. When I tried it out I was like is this as loud as it gets? Even with the liveaudio off it didn't have much volume.
After reading this entire thread I understand now that disabling both of those features gives me much more volume and I will surely keep it. I love this thing.
Perfect for me. Music anywhere and I can use it for conference calls in data centers where the fans are so noisy (main reason I bought it).
A couple things to note:
Wish it had an option in MyTALK to lock the volume all the way up so you can't change it with -/+ on the JamBOX itself. I find myself always hitting the + making sure it's all the way up. I only need one place to change the volume (iPhone), and it would also help when disabling liveaudio so we don't have to hit + twice to go all the way back up. Just a suggestion.
Secondly some that doesn't ever use liveaudio may find it useful to have an option in MyTALK that allows you to permanently disable it so you can't enable it via -/+. This way you don't have to wonder if it's on or off if you can't tell immediately from the volume.
I have an ERA, Prime, ICON Hero, 2 JamBOXes and 2 UP bracelets. I love the Jawbone line. Thanks Jawbone for making quality products that rock (no pun intended)!

Unfortunately my story isn't that great... Finally decided to buy a jambox after having thought about it for a long time. It arrived yesterday through the parcel service (ordered it on the Apple Store) and was really excited. I love design of the jambox and the package is really slick as well.
After unpacking it i first let it charge fully and then i paired it with my iPhone4. It worked absolutely smooth and sound from the jambox is really good. So this morning i attached it my Mac and went to the myTalk update page as it was described in the manual (yeah, i even read the manual) and updated it to the latest version of the firmware... i wish i never had done that!
After the update the jambox only releases static when paired to my iPhone4. Tried all the different options that are mentioned on the forums and the troubleshooting but nothing. I removed the iPhone pairing, made pairing with my iMac and that only plays mono sound wehn i choose the stereo i get static again.
In the end i called the european helpdesk and the guy was most helpfull. We tried another reset routine where you press the talk button 7 times quickly, but also nothing helped. His explanation was that somehow during the update the firmware had corrupted the jambox and there was no way to restore it. In the end he told me to return it to store and ask for a new one...
So you can say i am not a happy bunny and luckily the Apple Store also offered me a money back return, because seriously a firmware update that causes the hardware to become damaged beyond repair is just plain bad!
You don't even have a way of reinstalling firmware, because MyTalk states that everything is up to date and with that your stuck. You seriously need to have a long hard look at your firmware/software distribution system cause this isn't working.
I still love the design of the jambox and packaging, but it's not worth the frustration and the 200 euros.

I really like the live audio feature sometimes with certain music.
Yet, why is it only available via bluetooth, not with 3.5mm cord connection?

I did a hard reset on the Jambox, then connected to mytalk and turned off live audio under the advanced tab.
Bluetooth connected volume much better after these steps, but less than what I heard prior to my purchase, as well as not as loud as before 2.1 software upgrade.

Regardless of what the folks at Jawbone say, Jambox has never been the same since the firmware was updated with LiveAudio. I have the latest firmware installed on my Jambox, and no matter how I manipulate the settings, I still can't get the volume up to a level that matches what it was when I first purchased the Jambox in December 2010.
It now seems that Jawbone has a new solution to the volume dilemma; cough up another 300 bucks for a BIG JAMBOX! No thanks, Jawbone....I've experienced your responsiveness to customer problems and complaints. I for one, have no intention of buying another Jawbone product. I'm very pleased with the SONOS speaker system I'm now using.

This is the same story as mine! But since I live in Brazil and bought mine in the airport at Spain now I'm with a dead weight on my desk!!!!!!!!

Finally decided to buy a jambox after having thought about it for a long time. I just came back from a travel to France and got one at the Airport in Madrid. I love design of the jambox and the package is really slick as well.

But since I live in Brazil I can't return it!!!! Now I'm stuck with a paperweight!

What a disappiintment! I had been showing friends and family how great my Jambox was, then the recent update reduced the sound from middle-size room to phone booth. I put my Jambox away and now I'm using of the new HMDX Jam (not as good quality sound, but at least volume serves the purpose). I hope Jawbone decides to update the Jambox to its former greatness. I loved the quality.
