Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

Hello All,

I found a fix to this very frustrating problem. Lion was the cause of the problem, but here's the fix. Unpairand delete your jawbone from your Mac from the Bluetooth preferences (click on jambox and click minussign). Then, click on the plus key to repair it. Once repaired, click on the gear icon (settings) in theBluetooth preferences menu after clicking on the newly paired jambox. Make sure bluetooth is ON beforeclicking on this. Now, in the gear icon, click on "Show More Info". Notice in the services category underthe Jambox it says a few thing (Headphones, Headset). What it's missing is "Hands-Free Unit". This iswhat is needed to make the Jambox work on the mac. All you need to do to add the "Hands-Free Unit" tothe Services category is to click on the gear icon and click "Update Services". This should add the "Hand'sFree Unit" to the Services category. Once this is done, make sure jambox is turned on and your bluetoothon your mac is on. Then, click on the jambox from the list of bluetooth devices, and click on the gear iconagain. Click "Use as Audio Device". Wait until the category on the right hand side that says "Connected"says "Yes" and the light dot turns green. If the dot doesn't turn green and say "Yes" then turn off theJambox ONLY and turn it back on, but make sure you clicked on the "Use as Audio Device" BEFOREturning the Jambox OFF. It should connect automatically in no more than 1 minutes. If that doesn't work,then click on the "Use as Audio Device" and then turn off Jambox. Then, turn on Jambox but hold the onbutton all the way to the uppermost position for about 5-10 seconds until the Jambox says "The Device isnow in pairing mode. I'm ready to pair with your device". The jambox should then connect to the macrunning on LION. This fixed my Jambox and it works now! Jawbone customer service couldn't solve theproblem for a long time, so I took the problem into my own hands and I solved it. Jawbone should reallyget better technicians to solve their problems for the customers.

Please comment and reply if this works for you so I know if it's working or not!

Thanks and ENJOY!

Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

I would like to add a comment regarding this. I bought the jambox about a month ago and it seemed to be working fine when paired with my macbook air in lion. Yesterday I started having the dreaded bluetooth error and now it won't work. I've tried numerous techniques to get it working properly but no joy.

This is unacceptable and I expect Jawbone to do something about it. This is their product and it is touted as working with OS X.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

hello barbelith,

there are some options, things can get frustrating but as we speak i have muzic pumping through mine through BT. Because you get the error message (probably within the first 5 seconds you try to connect) you are in the green area. These are your options imho

- clear parameter ram

- pair and re-pair (i do this almost 5 times a day)

- run the mytalk and change something (anything, it doesnt matter what, could be the name), try clearing the list of devices it knows in the last option

- check in 'Topright Bluetooth menu -> Jambox -> sound options' if output as well as input is set to jambox

- if you have the app 'Boom' installed it might interfere with all soundoutput

let me know if this cleared the issue for you, have a nice day

These are seperate options that lead to succes for me, its not a list you have to execute. Cheers

Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

Thanks for the advice, I'll give those a try, but I really shouldn't have to re-pair it five times a day to get it working. I've got better things to do. For now I'm just plugging it in through the cable. Gets rid of the latency issue too. Hopefully a firmware update or an OS update will sort things out in due course.

:smileywink:Peace and thanks again.

Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

Just adding my voice to those with Bluetooth problems on Lion...

Unpairing/re-pairing the Jambox is the only thing that works for me. I find that I have to delete the Jambox in the BT settings in our Mac mini and erase the Mac mini connection in the Jambox in the MyTalk panel --- only then do things start to work again.

I like the Jambox, but this gets tedious and frustrating.

Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

I've had it with this product. Unfortunately I bought it a little over 30 days ago and so can't get a refund through Amazon in Japan where I live. The bluetooth doesn't work and when I plug it in through the cable there's an intermittent high pitched buzzing sound. Not loud, but enough so that it's noticeable.

This is the worst product I've ever bought. It's not heavy enough to use as a doorstop unfortunately. :smileyfrustrated:

Re: Mac Lion, Jambox and major frustrations

Hi Jamie,

Having the same issues as everyone else on this forum.  Device is not working and don't want to go through the rigamarole of constantly depairing and other work arounds.  Feel like I've spent way to much time on this already.  If you have any advice or other updates please let us know, otherwise I won't wait to return the Jambox.  Too bad, was really excited about getting it but the convenience was a major selling point and it's provided just the opposite.  Look forward to your response.  Thanks.
