JAMBOX FIND ANSWERS QUICKLY! |

This is a last ditch effort after a very less-than-satisfactory customer service experience today and literally spending hours troubleshooting this thing to absolutely no avail...
I purchased my Jambox 'new' (sealed/unopened) from an unauthorized retailer just before Thanksgiving. It has worked flawlessly up until 2 days ago when the Bluetooth pairing decided to stop working with any of my devices. When I power on the Jambox, it boots up with the little bass thump, then I immediately hear a faint whining/static-ey noise. This noise seems to fluctuate/change when I try to pair, as if it is affected by the Bluetooth signal itself. When I pair the Jambox with a device (iPhone 4, Macbook Pro, Mac Pro) the connection seems to happen, but I only get that same whine/static rather than any audio. Some of the Jambox audible notifications do not seem to work, such as "Jambox is in pairing mode" or the volume up/down beeps. The battery notification works sometimes and I can get the demo to play when I hold all 3 top buttons down.
I have tried soft resetting, hard resetting, turning off features through MyTalk and turning them back on and various combinations of that. I have the most up-to-date software according to MyTalk. I have tried unpairing and pairing with all 3 devices but continue to get the same result.
The strange thing is that when paired with my iPhone 4, the speaker-phone works. I can play voicemail, make calls, receive calls, etc. But if I switch over to play music/movie/apps/etc, I get nothing but static.
If I plug the unit in directly using the 1/4" audio cable, it works just fine. It will even allow a call to override the audio to take a voice-call and then go back to the 1/4" cable-fed audio after, but still nothing with Bluetooth.
Customer service has offered no solution to this issue at all, although I am thankful for the time they spent helping me troubleshoot.
The intent of me contacting Jawbone was in hopes of getting my Jambox replaced, being that I opened it only four months ago. Unfortunately, all that I was met with was a 25% discount on a new product from the Jawbone website, only after I send in my current unit. The reason for this as I am told, is because I did not purchase the Jambox from an authorized reseller and therefore the authenticity of the product cannot be guaranteed. I then asked "What if a Jawbone employee gifts a Jambox and it stops working, are they out of luck?" and was told "Not if it was a gift. If it was a gift, they still have warranty.". So I asked, how they can determine the authenticity of a gift versus the one I purchased and I was told that it was 'internal information' that could not be provided to me. How convenient.
I was honest about the situation because I have done nothing wrong and because of that, I am stuck with a useless product at the moment. I could have called, lied about the situation and likely been given more help from Jawbone customer service. I guess I expected more from Jawbone. Even Adobe warranties software gotten through the employee purchase program.
If there are any suggestions anyone has that could help, I would greatly appreciate it. Not sure where else to turn at this point. I'm feeling a bit abandoned by Jawbone at the moment.
Thanks for reading through this mess-

I'm having ths exact same issue with a jambox purchased from at&t so it has nothing to do with not being an authorized seller. This jambox has worked flawlessly for a year now and now suddenly it plays no music through bluetooth only works as a speakerphone.

I see a lot of people having this problem and I did too until I figured out the dealio. The issue is that the Jambox bluetooth driver offers up several services, and for whatever reason, the headset seems to be the default which it REALLY likes to pick. If you try to play music through the headset driver it will sound like *^$%.
The answer is to be sure you pick the right service / driver for it to start up with. The problem is as above - it REALLY likes to prefer the headset setup.
I can provide some screenshots for Win7 but Mac and other users will have to figure out the equivalent screens/menus/etc....
First you have to pick the device...

Double click and you'll see something like this... where its probably insisted on picking the headset driver first...
<img src="http://www.j2c3.com/misc/jamboxBT_2.jpg">
If you are lucky you can "disconnect" the headset and connect to the audio driver instead in one go. If this doesn't work right away try a couple times, sometimes it helps to turn Jambox on/off and then try to force the audio driver immediately.

Another thing that seemed to help was selecting the Audio Sink service in "properties" for the device. However this still doesn't make it flawless every single time...

Basically once you get it to select the proper stereo audio (A2DP I presume?) service/driver it sounds great, but figuring out how and what you need to do takes a bit of time at first... certainly not seamless or intuitive...
