Re: Static and dropping Bluetooth - My customer service call experience

Same issues here. I purchased from a reseller on Amazon, so I doubt I'll get much help from Jawbone, even though it is clearly a hardware issue. I'm stuck with the cable plugged mostly in just to get the bluetooth to stream correctly. I'be been browsing forums all day long, and have yet to find a solution other than 'exchange for another jambox', which I'm assuming would have the exact same problems. I would love to hear what customer service has to say, if anything.

Are customers having these same issues with the Big Jambox? Since it is different hardware I was thinking it may not suffer the same build quality issues.

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

Hello,

this has started to happen to me today also. Jawbone was working perfectly fine but all of a sudden, bluetooth connectivity no longer works. It connects to my devices, but instead of sound i hear static. Plugging it in via headphone jack works fine, so i know the speakers aren't broken, it;s the bluetooth connectivity.

I've already "forgotten device", rebooted my mac air and iphone AND jawbone, re-paired, and still same issue.

Please help ASAP!!

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

Actually the problem is the 3.5mm jack in the Jambox.

You can verify this by connecting your jambox via bluetooth and start playing music.

Now take a 3.5mm cable and plug one end halfway into the jambox (you may have to wiggle it or work it a little bit), the other end of the cable should be unplugged.

If the 3.5mm jack is the problem you should hear your bluetooth audio start playing.

You see the issue is that on some Jamboxes the pins inside the plug are not recessing back after you unplug the 3.5mm cable so the jambox thinks you are trying to play music through the cable and not through Bluetooth.

If this is the problem the only recourse is to have the Jambox replaced.  Jambox is aware of this issue.

Good Luck

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

Absolutely spot on with the 3.5mm jack issue...

I just synced  the latest update for my jambox.. and it just wont connect on stereo mode.

it connects fine with with mac book pro on mono only.

so i did just what you said by wiggling the 3.5mm cable into the jack and there....

my bluetooth is back in business...

i definitely aint paying another 200 bucks for this...

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

From what I've been told by Jawbone, select Jamboxes had this issues.  My assumption is that this issue has been corrected in later models but I don't know that for sure.  They did however tell me that this issue is not a problem on the big jambox.  What I do is just don't use the 3.5mm jack at all so that this will never be an issue on my Jambox.  This may not be an option for people that depend on this functionality  nor does it matter for people that currently are experiencing this problem and are not under warranty from Jawbone.  Since this is a problem that is known to Jawbone I think they should be replacing these units for people.. Its a dissapointment that this is a $200 item with this sort of issue..

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

Please do not purchase this device nor anything from jawbone. The jambox does not function as a Bluetooth speaker. It is a rip off and their customer support is terrible. Given the Amount of problems they are having with this terrible design they should recall the product. We purchased one a few months ago and have been through several rounds of customer service "support" which got us nowhere. Same problem as everyone else...works ok then the POS craps out and all you get is static. I want a refund!!!! The quality control is abhorrent - the design engineers at jambox should burn their engineering degrees and go to work at a best buy hocking computers. Shame on you jawbone!

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

I had this buzzing and static as well, and putting the plug half way in worked for me. It took me a while to find this post, but I'm glad I did because I was about to return my Jambox.

Re: Static and dropping bluetooth - My customer service call experience

I returned mine. I was having the static issue, but it would come and go. But still, if you browse these forums you will find plenty of reasons to return your Jambox while you still can. I'm going to buy something that doesn't have all the build quality issues.
