Spinning

My band is tracking steps while I am in spin class.  Is this normal or a problem with my band?

Also, the closest Activity Type seems to be stationary.  Riding a stationary bike and spinning are nothing alike.  I'm curious to know what Activity Type other spinners select.

Re: Spinning

Spinning last night for over 19miles=less than 3000 steps...so mines only recording a small number of steps for stationary bike...

I think it only counts upper body movement.

Re: Spinning

Hi,
I spin twice a week. I put my band in stopwatch mode for the duration of the class. I also tie the band to my shoe during class. After, I log it as "stationary bike" but I adjust the level of exertion to vigorous. I find that the steps at the end of the class are consistently around the same amount per spin class so I feel like its accurate. They say that a rotation of the pedals is equal to two steps (someone in this forum somewhere did all that fancy math and it made sense to me).
Anyway, that is how I count spin class.
