Jawbone Updater application is running when I do not have my Jawbone plugged in . . .

When I do not have my Jawbone plugged into my computer, the Jawbone Updater runs in the background --- and greatly slows down my compter -- :womanvery-happy:

The Windows Task Manager shows the Jawbone Updater as one of the Applications running.

When the Jawbone Updater is running, it slows down my computer -- a lot.

Is it necessary for the Updater to run whenever it wants to  What is it doing when it's running ?

Can I limit when the Jawbone Updater runs ? ? ? ? Is this an option I choose with the download wizard ???

I have a relatively modern computer, Windows XP Pro with a Pentium 4.

Thanks for any helpful answers.

Re: Jawbone Updater application is running when I do not have my Jawbone plugged in . . .

Hi JarHead,

Can you please clarify what makes you think that the Updater is the cause of your issue?  Is task manager reporting it as using a lot of CPU?

It's perfectly safe to not have it run all the time & start it up only when you want to use mytalk (although then you'll miss notifications about when new firmware is available for devices you have plugged in).

Thanks

I know that the jawbone Updater is the problem, because, when I close it down from the Task Manager, my computer runs at normal speed again.

I want to only run the Updater when  I want to run it. I do the same thing for my computer security and anti-virus updates, that is, I manually check for updates. Otherwise, I could be in the middle of something, right before I'm leaving to go to work, and have the computer slow to crawl, while the update is downloading....

What I was wanting to know is, where are the instructions of making the Updater downloads manual, and not automatic ? ? ? Do you Know ??

Thanks

Re: Jawbone Updater application is running when I do not have my Jawbone plugged in . . .

I do not want the Jawbone Updater to run in the background on it's own. The only time I need the updater to run is when I'm logged in to My Talk, and that's it.

So, my question is, is there a way to not have the Jawbone Updater running in the back ground, by some Menu selection, or some other procedure ? ? ?

Obviously, I already know that I can close the Jawbone Updater once it starts running on it's own. But, I'm trying to find out how to change the setup so that the Jawbone Updater does not start running on it's own, in the first place....

So, other than "uninstalling" the Jawbone Updater, is there, in fact, a way to not have the Jawbone Updater run on it's own ????

That's a Question I'd like to have answered, please.
