Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

I have a iphone 3gs and both a jawbone 2 and jawbone prime, with either paired when i recieve an incoming call and press jawbone to answer it will pick up on the phone and not the jawbone, i tried resetting both my jawbone and phone and repairing, i have talked to atleast two others who have this same problem, and one of the phones is just a 3G with OS 3.0, has anyone else experienced this? Is it a problem with OS 3.0?

Yes, we have seen reports of this and are looking into it in more detail.  Initially, this looks like it may be an iPhone 3.0 problem as there are many reports on the Apple forums of this same thing happening with other headsets

Try un-pairing the Jawbone, shutting the phone completely off, and then turning it back on and pairing it again.  We also had one user say it was fixed as soon as there were multiple device pairing in their iPhone.  So try pairing both your Jawbones and then only leave the one on that you are using.

I have the iPhone 3G and the "New" Jawbone and am experiencing the same problem since I upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0.  Anyone hear anything from Apple?

Many people have found that simply re-pairing their Jawbone after updating to 3.0 solves the problem.  Give that a try and let us know if it works for you!

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

Thanks, Laurel, but I have already tried that.  I am getting ready to try resetting the Jawbone and restarting the iPhone as well as various combinations of turning the BT off on the phone.  I'll post my results here, either way.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

Okay, I got my New Jawbone and the iPhone 3G working correctly again after my OS 3.0 upgrade.  Here is what I did - don't know if you can skip any steps or not, but you could try.

1. Unpaired Jawbone from iPhone (Settings > General > Bluetooth > Device > "Forget this device")

2. Turned off Bluetooth on iPhone (Settings > General > Bluetooth > "Off" Slider)

3. Reset Jawbone (see Answer ID 92)

4. Reset (not just restarted) iPhone (Hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears)

5. Put Jawbone in pairing mode (see Answer ID 143)

6. Turned on Bluetooth on iPhone (Settings > General > Bluetooth > "On" Slider)

7. Follow directions in Answer ID 143.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

I have an original Jawbone, and I'm having the same problem with iPhone 3GS.  Also had the incoming call problem with my 3G iPhone after the 3.0 update.  Apple had not yet heard of this problem, but a friend is also having the same problem on his 3G (with 3.0 update), paired to a New Jawbone.

I tried the above steps (but with the proper reset for a orig. Jawbone) and it didn't work.  I did it twice to be sure.

I have a spare orig. Jawbone... I'll try it with that and will post the results here.

Anyone else having these 3.0 issues?

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

I tried it with a different (new) Original Jawbone...

I think Apple changed the way the 3.0 OS equipped phones answer calls.  When the Jawbone is paired and I answer a call by pressing the green "answer" button on the phone, the call is answered on the phone, but I can switch it over to the headset by pressing "Audio Sources.

If I want to answer an incoming call on my Jawbone, I NOW have to press the main button on the earpiece.  This is either a bug, or an undocumented new feature with 3.0 OS.

It's annoying that they couldn't document this new feature, but the feature makes sense.  Many times, I have set my earpiece down and forgot that it was paired...  A new call comes in and I can't hear anything through the iPhone, so then I scramble to the Audio Sources button or scramble to find the earpiece and place on my ear!  Maybe it makes more sense to have the phone "decide" how to answer that incoming call, when the headset is paired.

Press the green answer button on the iPhone to answer it with the phone, or press the earpiece button to answer with the Jawbone!

Or

Its a 3.0 iPhone bug.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

Have an iPhone 3GS and two Primes. Both are very scrachy and hissy when I make any calls. The volume is low, and there are beeps which come in during the calls. When I answer the phone, the calls routes to the phone and not the headset unless I press the Jawbone button on the screen.

This is exactly the behavior noted here and on the Apple Bluetooth forums (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2048080&start=0&tstart=0). There is clearly something wrong with the 3.0 software on the iPhone and the Jawbone. Apparently, some of the symptoms are also happening to other headsets.

Looks like Apple blew it with the software and needs to do an update. I guess I need to return the Prime. Tried the reset and reconnecting techniques mentioned in this thread, but it didn't help.

Oh well.
