Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

Hi All,

I think I figured out why you can't answer calls on the Jawbone (or other headsets).  On my Iphone 2.2.1, I had customized ringtones to different contacts so I would know who's calling me.  When I did my update on IPhone to 3.0, I had lost my ringtones, however, the custom ringtone under the contact was still reading the old ringtone that I have lost.  So, what I did, I changed the ringtone to a ringtone that I have currently in my library and waalaa!  It works now.  I can answer from my bluetooth.  From what I see, the phone was getting confused because there was a custom ringtone under the contact and it was not in the library.  So after I would push the answer button on the Jawbone (New Jawbone, Jawbone II), the phone would just keep vibrating until answered on the phone.  Hope this helps,

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

hello. i too have the same problem. when answering the iphone with the Jawbone 2 paired it starts to answer on the Jawbone but then quickly jumps to the iphone and must be manually switched to the jawbone. very annoying. BUT...if i answer it only by touching the jawbone when the phone rings it will work. i dont like that but it avoids haveing to reset the iphone each time. PS this started the day i upgraded to 3.0 on the iphone. i have tried unpairing, re-pairing, resetting and even using the iphone with a tech at the apple store today and the same deal. what really stinks is that sometimes the jawbone will work but mostly doesnt. I will be switching to a wired headset for the time being just to avoid the anxioty.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

Hello again,

I have tried all the pairing suggestions. Nothing is working. Does anyone have a way to contact apple? I went to an apple store they were useless. They directed me to this site. Really like my Jawbone and don't want to buy another blue tooth but will have to soon if I can't get this to work. Any suggestions would be most appreciative! When my iphone rings I can answer it by touching the Jawbone. If it rings and I answer by the phone 70% of the time it starts on the Jawbone then defaults to the phone. HELP!!!

Further issue with iPhone 3Gs & Jawbone

I have an even more sinister problem with the iPhone 3Gs that did not exist with the original iPhone.  I have the same issue as everyone else answering a call by hitting "Answer" on the iPhone.  BUT - when I'm in a conversation using the iPhone only (either answered or initiated), and the Jawbone is in range, the iPhone switches audio sources to the Jawbone all by itself.  Even when I set it back to audio source = "iPhone," it switches back to the Jawbone. So I end up talking to myself.

And yes, I have hidden the audio sources so I'm not accidentally hitting the Jawbone button with my cheek.  Bizzare, but this Jawbone worked perfectly with the original iPhone. Several callers have even said that my voice goes in and out when I'm on the Jawbone, and that never happened on the old phone.

Re: Further issue with iPhone 3Gs & Jawbone

I'm having this same problem with my Jawbone and the iPhone 3Gs, and it worked perfectly with my 3G previously.  It will randomly drop calls or switch to the iPhone.  It's v. frustrating.  It will also randomly unpair from the iPhone.  I've done everything suggested on this forum to no avail.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

After living with my iPhone 3G 3.0 upgrade and my Jawbone for over a month, I agree with the following quoted post - Apple must have changed the way that the iPhone handles BT earpieces.  I think it is an improvement all the reasons listed below, if Apple had just bothered to document it.  My iPhone / Jawbone works perfectly now, when I remember to follow the procedures below.

Brent

===============================

I tried it with a different (new) Original Jawbone...

I think Apple changed the way the 3.0 OS equipped phones answer calls.  When the Jawbone is paired and I answer a call by pressing the green "answer" button on the phone, the call is answered on the phone, but I can switch it over to the headset by pressing "Audio Sources.

If I want to answer an incoming call on my Jawbone, I NOW have to press the main button on the earpiece.  This is either a bug, or an undocumented new feature with 3.0 OS.

It's annoying that they couldn't document this new feature, but the feature makes sense.  Many times, I have set my earpiece down and forgot that it was paired...  A new call comes in and I can't hear anything through the iPhone, so then I scramble to the Audio Sources button or scramble to find the earpiece and place on my ear!  Maybe it makes more sense to have the phone "decide" how to answer that incoming call, when the headset is paired.

Press the green answer button on the iPhone to answer it with the phone, or press the earpiece button to answer with the Jawbone!

Or Its a 3.0 iPhone bug.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

I've done everything suggested here, but the connection between my iPhone 3Gs and my Jawbone Prime is still tenuous.  I experienced a new form of the problem yesterday when I was on my iPhone and wandered by the desk where my Jawbone (which was turned OFF) was sitting and they suddenly re-paired.  I couldn't hear a thing until I figured it out and hit the audio sources button.

Not a feature I enjoy.  A wired earpiece makes a lot of sense to me right now.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

i too have tried everything including pairing 2 blooth devices and selecting one. I have rebooted, reset disconnected the jawbone bla bla bla.... nothing. and what really stinks now is that it doesnt always do it. sometimes you can answer the call by sliding the iphone to connect and it will go to the jawbone and sometimes it doesnt. i can however always answer the jawbone by pressing on the jawbone itself to answer the call. that has remained consistant. THIS ONLY STARTED HAPPENING WHEN IPHONE UPDATED TO THE NEW SOFTWARE. i love the jawbone and recently had a customized earpiece made for it so it fits in my ear with no clip! i want to keep it but i must admit that i have been using the wired apple headset more and more.

Re: Iphone 3GS and Jawbone 2 and prime

so i just got the 3.1 update on the iphone. the problem still exists. when using the Jawbone or ANY blue tooth, and the phone rings, if you answer it by sliding the phone open it answers on the phone not on the jawbone. then you must manually select the jawbone to get the call on the earpiece. If the phone rings and you answer FROM the blue tooth it works fine. CRAZY!!! it worked fine before 3.0
