Jawbone Icon misses mark again by not supporting A2DP

I can't understand why Aliph would come out with yet another 'new and improved" headset and not support A2DP? So disappointing.

Sorry to hear you are disappointed with ICON due to it not supporting A2DP.  The creation of MyTALK essentially gives you life after purchase.  Just because we shipped ICON without A2DP doesn't mean that we can't offer it as an App on Jawbone MyTALK.  While we have a policy of not talking about future products, I would recommend you stay tuned.

I too am also very surprised by this as well. I have just purchased the ICON today and was disappointed to learn that A2DP isn't supported. Maybe a software update can be devloped and send out via MyTalk, when it comes out of BETA that is. I may just put this back in the box and put it up for a while. It's still too new to be used...haha!!

I don't know about missing the mark, but A2DP would make the icon a perfect headset in my opion.  RIght now I change from using a a Jabra Stone and the Icon depending on what I'm doing.  If the icon had the A2DP that the stone does, I'd get rid of the stone.  Please consider making this happen with an update.

You are working on it for the icon, or some other jawbone product??

Re: Jawbone Icon misses mark again by not supporting A2DP

I'm an employee at an AT&T corporate store.  We sell a broad range of highend headsets, including the Jawbone Prime, Jawbone Icon, BlueAnt Q1, Jabra Stone, and Planatronics Discovery 975.  When asked what the best headset we carry is, I cannot recommend the Jawbone Prime/Icon as the BEST headset.  I can say that it is the best noise cancellation headset, but with the lack of A2DP it's not the best we carry.

I understand the issue that A2DP causes a heavier drain on the battery.  However, I feel if the option was available to customers they would be able to utilize the protocol under the knowledge that A2DP use will cause a reduced battery life.

If the Jawbone Icon was able to pair as A2DP, I would be able to replace my BlueAnt Q1 with it and sell it as the best bluetooth headset on the market.  Lacking this important feature, however, I am not comfortable selling it as the best, simply as the best noise reduction.

Thanks so much for this awesome feedback!  We do hear your request for the Jawbone to support A2DP and it is something we are definitely looking into.  At this point we are focused on providing the best noise cancellation possible and it's great to hear you've enjoyed the ICON's noise canceling capabilities.

Please keep the feedback coming -- we appreciate it very much and take it all to heart.

I hope you fix this via a software update on the Icon.  I find it hard to believe that it's not supported.  As far as battery life being affected by it, who cares?  I keep it off unless using it since it pairs so quickly.

For now, it's back in the box until and unless this is fixed.  I saw the Icon as the ultimate Aliph headset, but forget to check on the specs for A2DP.  Dang!

Re: Jawbone Icon misses mark again by not supporting A2DP

Laurel, Emma - thanks for being on the forums and for following up.  For what it is worth, the week that the Icon gains a2dp support, I'll be buying one and strongly recommending it to my friends.

Simply put, the ability to listen to podcasts while walking and commuting but without the bulk and hassle and disconnect from the surroundings that come with headphones - it is great and worth holding out for.

I hope you offer this up.
