Chinese Burn. My up burned my wrist.

[ Edited ]

Ive been using my band now for two weeks and have been happy with it up until 3am this morning. I woke up feeling a burning sensation in my wrist it took me a while to work out what it was. I switched on the bedside light and pulled off my up, to say it was a bit warm was an underestimation. When i dragged myself out of bed this morning i noticed my wrist, looks like a chinese burn. The sides of the inside of the band look like they are distorted slightly i did toy with throwing it in my glass of water last night it was that hot, but i was half asleep and thought no more of it. Reading through the forums this morning i cant find anyone else thats had this issue so im thinking it might be a one off. Im also reading that customer support is pretty much a farce. Ive spoken to my sister who is a solicitor this morning and her advice is take legal action, have the band independantly looked at and take it from there and looking around this forum at the customer service reviews im guessing shes right. I bought my band from Apple should i contact them too do you think? Anyhoo i just thought i should share may experience to see if it was a trend and after looking around here to warn others. Pictures below.

Yikes, thats scary!

Actually the customer support many of us have had has been fantastic. It's just the forums at skewed towards those with bad experienced so take it with a grain off salt.

Do us all a favour and contact Jawbone for resolution first before legal action, I'm 100% confident they will want to look at it and make sure it's a one off so no one else on here gets seriously hurt. If you don't get resolution then look at other routes.

Spouting about legal action? Im not being funny mate but i think im taking this quite well so far and of course they are skewed looking around i think people have legitimate concerns about this product. Im pretty sure im not alone in that. Ive also been warned not to send it to jawbone until its been independently looked at as apparently some spurious companies tend to lose these things or destroy them in the process of trying to find out what went wrong.

Ah, i see you changed your wording from spouting to something a little more acceptable. Why did you do that?

Re: Chinese Burn. My up burned my wrist.

Thanks Denise. I guess its one of those forums if you know what i mean and if thats the case im afraid the legal route is my only option. Its not bad its just sore but it looks like a drive to Manchester is in order to see my sister and leave it with her. She did also say to start getting the word out about this and to leave it with her. She has friends that work in the national press over here.

I'm sorry I find it hard to believe that the legal route is your only option. It seems like people are so quick to sue for a quick penny. You havent even tried to contact Jawbone.

Looking around here at the level of customer service im pretty sure it would get lost in the post, or they would lose it. Be honest looking around they havent inspired people with all the lying thats gone on. Ive spent 2 hours reading some of the stories on here and sad to say ive no faith in these lot as a company. My sister has decided to come over to mine tomorrow morning and have a chat about the best course of legal action. What amazes me the most though is the fact that ive mentioned legal action not the fact that during the night this thing burned my wrist is worrying you all the most.

Re: Chinese Burn. My up burned my wrist.

UPDATE.

Contacted customer service and told them what happened. They told me they would pass it on and someone would get back to me. I dont think he sounded surprised but then i got the feeling hes heard a lot of stories since this product has been launched. My biggest issue here is my sister is telling me to have an independent expert look at this thing before jawbone get there paws on it and shes also wanting to get apple involved but im guessing from what ive read on here apple wont do anything. Shes also mentioned going to the press here in England seeing as she has contacts at one of the big nationals and reuters. Ive also been reading up on batteries this morning and battery overheating in things like this and phones and catching fire isnt unheard of and very rare. Saying that mine didnt catch fire so i have to be thankful for that but it does leave me to wonder how safe the batteries are. So for now im leaving it in there customers services hands and seeing what they do or say they have until tomorrow to let me know before its out of my hands.
