Poor Quality Sound

I have the second version of the jawbone and I rarely use it because every time I do people complain about how noisy it is, etc.  even with the noise cancellation on, it still is terrible quality.  The first jawbone I bought seemed to work better than the more slimmed down version.

Re: Poor Quality Sound

I agree with the comments above.  I used the first Jawbone and always loved the sound quality.  I did, however, find it a bit too bulky and I had problems with the rubber ear buds constantly falling off.  That is what inspired me to move to the New Jawbone.

I had an instant love/hate relationship with the product.  It fit like it was custom designed for me - snug in the ear with the sensor tight against my cheek, with no need for an ear loop.  Several times I thought I had misplaced it, only to find it was still in my ear.

That was the love part.  The hate part is all about sound quality.  While using the original for some two years, I never once had someone complain about how I sounded.  With the new model, it was almost daily.  And it wasn't much better on my end.  The sound was tinny and too soft.  It was passable in a quiet room, but with any ambient noise (including road noise) you couldn't make out what the other person was saying.

I am actually amazed that a company that put out such a high performing product would follow up with something that works so poorly.  It is a headset, after all, so it needs to deliver decent sound quality before anything else.

Regarding customer service, I had a few reasons to call and was always satisfied with the response.

Sorry to see this site so negative - like someone else said, I would be surprised if it isn't taken down before very long.

Re: Poor Quality Sound

I agree with the comments.  The sound is terrible people constantly complain of not hearing me.  They compare it to being in a tunnel.  I regret that I paid good money for a bad product.  Rarely use it.

Re: Poor Quality Sound

The sound probem is annoying. they need to increase the volume of the headset. If there is any background noise it is hard to hear. My second problem that was mentioned is the shaft for the earpiece broke off accross the hole that the earloop uses. too bad they don't do upgrades. I would like to see if the sound quality is better on the prime version.

Re: Poor Quality Sound

I have the Icon Jawbone after i've had the bigger older syle. The voice quality is not as good as the older version and seems too digitized or something. When listening to higher volumes sound is too piercing. And again both headsets were not loud enough

Re: Poor Quality Sound

When I first called my best friend she said I sounded like I was in a tunnel, but either she got used to it or the problem corrected itself because now she says I sound fine. However, on my end, I hear quite a bit of crackling/static.When I first paired it to my phone and tried to use it I could not hear anything, just complete garbbled jibberish so I turned it off and back on and it worked alot better.

Regardless, this thing does not deliver crystal clear sound quality as advertised but my phone is quite old so perhaps that matters. Luckily, the ICON does not emit a high pitch sound like the Samsung WEP650 did so at least I don't feel like I have an ear ache. For me, incoming sound quality could be alot better but I do not have another phone to try this headset with so I cannot say if poor sound quality is due to the ICON or my phone. When "The Ace" talks to me everything is crystal clear, I only hear the static when I am on a call. And forget about walking away from my phone, anything more than a few feet and it's static city. I still love my Jawbone though but I don't have much to compare it to except a free-after-mail-in-rebate headset.

Re: Poor Quality Sound

Sorry to hear about this call quality issue, xninjagrrl!  Maybe a friend will let you borrow her phone to try your ICON with an alternative handset?  That would be an interesting, helpful test.

Please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-JAWBONE to speak with a representative about this issue.  We're always happy to help out!
