Thanks Aliph for this forum...but the ball is in your court!

[ Edited ]

I know you folks at Aliph are taking a beating here. IMHO, some of it is well deserved...I have two New Jawbones as well as two Moto H15s, and have also experienced every single problem described in this forum with my New Jawbones. The New Jawbone overpromised and underdelivered, and that is why I had to buy the Motos, and really, they are no better, just different and with their own set of problems. That said, with the proper fit the New Jawbone is a good product. Working at its best, it is an excellent product. What Aliph needs to take away from this is that for many users, the combination of OE earbuds/earloops simply does not provide a reliable fit against the cheek in real-world conditions to yield excellent performance.

Aliph - if you ever come out with a retrofit kit in the future that improve the chances of getting an optimum fit - I sincerely hope you offer it to current users at nominal fee with proof of purchase (bill of sale, UPC code), perhaps free with payment for postage. It would be the correct and proactive response. IMHO. Thanks to this forum I just ordered two of the custom Pilotstuff earpieces last night and in the future I'll post about my experiences with them. Really, it shouldn't have had to come to this at an additional $150+ but I'm very hopeful...

Re: Thanks Aliph for this forum...but the ball is in your court!

I posted the following in the "Custom Fitting?" thread in the Product Discussion forum but thought I should follow up here also:

I have now had a few weeks with the Avery Sound earpiece. My take on it is this...if you can afford it, buy one...it's that good.

- It only takes a few minutes to figure out how to easily insert the earpiece and position the Jawbone at the right angle...after that it can be instantly worn for hours comfortably and w/o ever having to be pushed back into the ear. Mine simply feel like it would never fall out under any circumstances, and is far more comfortable than the OE combination of earbud and earloop despite the apparent size of the earpiece.

- The AS earpiece holds the Jawbone firmly against the cheek so that the Voice Activity Sensor  always contacts the cheek. This is huge and allows the Jawbone to perform optimally. I cannot stress enough that everyone who is having problems should reread the Aliph fit guide for their model as I have found maintaining the correct angle makes a big difference in performance.

- Bluetooth is still  Bluetooth, meaning this earpiece clearly exposes the problems inherent with reception in a varying environment. I still have issues, for example, being heard clearly while outdoors in a gentle or higher breeze. That said, the AS earpiece goes a long way towards extracting the most out of the Jawbone. IMHO.
