jawbone 2 won't go to pairing mode

I've read all the forums about how to pair and i know how, and i've even taken the plastic cover off and tried and it still won't, all it does is turn on normally. it doesn't make sense because i just got it to pair about 3 weeks ago and it worked fine. do i need to let the battery die then charge it again???
